Academic Explorations in Equity

Academic Explorations in Equity offers high school students a dynamic environment to investigate equity across diverse areas of personal interest such as education, fashion, sports, or media. This week-long innovative institute is tailored for passionate young minds eager to deepen their understanding of social issues while honing crucial research and writing skills necessary for higher education and future careers. Students will work on a personal research project, culminating in a completed work that they can add to their academic portfolio. The institute seeks to nurture the development of metacognitive skills necessary to evaluate source credibility as well as identify and challenge fallacies and conceptions of their self-selected social issue. Embracing a collaborative learning approach, the institute fosters the development of critical thinking, self-reflection, and advanced research capabilities necessary for higher education and future careers. Our goal is to empower the next generation of change-makers by equipping them with the metacognitive tools to navigate and contribute meaningfully to discussions on equity and social justice. This pricing includes tuition, materials, meals, and housing. All housing and meals will take place here on Alfred University’s campus.
