The JNH Horsemanship Camps are all about allowing children to move! They have daily riding lessons. They bend and stretch while grooming and bathing their horses and ponies. They are instructed in vaulting movements on a special vaulting barrel and then on Peat Moss, the Equicizer. They have lots of opportunities to play outdoors with their peers to get plenty of exercise in a safe environment surrounded by nature. Experienced therapeutic riding instructors and welltrained volunteers help to ensure their safety. The JNH riders are taught to work as partners with their mounts and are instructed in all aspects of horsemanship to help them understand the nature of the horse. Through this understanding and caring, the students gain a sense of responsibility and develop self-confidence and courage. This camp is for those with • Intellectual Disabilities • • Learning Disabilities • Autism • • 6-15 years of age • • Weight Limit: 140 pounds • (available to St. Louis County residents only)
