Gene Slay's Girls & Boys Club of St. Louis - Dutchtown Campus Summer Camp

Kids and parents! The school year will soon be coming to a close. We hope you will join us for A Musical Motown Summer! At Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club, this summer will be filled with music, fun, and laughter! A typical day will include academic enrichment, swim lessons, nature exploration & outdoor play, sports—both in the gym and outside, arts & crafts, and a variety of other engaging activities. All summer camp members will be served breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Some members will attend Summer Golf Camp, Tennis & Reading Camp, BWorks Earn-A-Bike Program, Project Make-it Soldering Workshops and other exciting bonus opportunities. In addition to all of this, the summer will feature our very own version of GSGBC’s Got Talent! Picture this: • Members will produce their own musical melodies to present during a midsummer talent showcase. • Members can form a cover band to recreate a group we all know and love or create an original sound to make us fall in love. • Youth Development Specialists will work with members to name their musical group. • After they name their group, members will work on their masterpiece. That may include:  A song  Choreographed dances  Skits  Costumes  Whatever else they want to include to complete their musical act • Groups will audition and compete for a “Gene Slay Record Deal” (which is not an actual record deal but includes notoriety and prizes!) Members will spend the first half of the summer developing their creative vision, then there will be a showcase including both club campuses. A panel of staff recruiters will deliberate to award Gene Slay Record Deals and offer tips for improving their showmanship. Groups will spend the rest of the summer tweaking their performances, and the summer will culminate with a final showcase and another chance for a Gene Slay Record Deal. A Musical Motown Summer offers girls and boys ages 6-16 all the summer fun and excitement your child is looking for! And for parents – summer camp fees are on a sliding scale and scholarships are available for every child!
