St. Charles County Youth Leadership Camp St. Charles County Parks and the St. Charles County Police Department are partnering up for a new weeklong camp focused on mentoring students ages 10-12 during summer break. Activities encourage leadership skills and building community outside of the school setting, and include hands-on law enforcement demonstrations, CPR/Stop the Bleed training, fishing, laser tag at 18 North Central and more! Cost is $125 per person. Pre-registration is required.

In the Democracy, Peace & Conflict Academy, you’ll look in-depth at how democratic societies deal with conflict through a blend of lectures and interactive exercises. You’ll learn about the important role of elections in the peaceful transfer of power and the causes of electoral violence. You’ll debate why democracies endure and why they erode as you investigate the role of leaders, civil society organizations, and political institutions. You’ll practice tools that citizens can use to counter political polarization, such as perspective-taking, dialogue, and nonviolent communication.

Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a veterinarian and perform a whiskers-to-tail exam on their newly “adopted” plush cat. These future veterinarians will learn about animal body language, maintaining a healthy environment such as proper litterbox placement, create a cat toy, and design a vet clinic.

Long after the nuclear apocalypse, your group of wasteland wanderers is searching for a way to purify the radioactive water you depend on. Some clues in an old computer have led you to this ancient, crumbling bomb shelter. Can you solve a scientific mystery and find the water purifier without triggering a meltdown or getting sealed in the vault… forever? Gather a team of 4-6 players and sign up together! (Ages 13 – 18)

The students will get to explore many aspects of the science industry, including leadership and team building, exploring their own entrepreneurial ideas. Exploring STEM opens a world of possibilities and will encourage the next generation of leaders. Science is fun and it is OK to noisy and messy. Students will experiment with milk, soap and food coloring, snap circuits, Oreos and scales. And still more surprises. (Ages 8 – 11)

Join us as we dive into the wonderful world of Medical Imaging. Learn more about the role Radiologic Technologists play in the field of healthcare. We will cover topics such as qualities of technologists, required skills, surgery and mobile radiography, trauma imaging, modality advancement, and much more. There will also be time to look at unique radiographic images! Learn these skills from registered Radiologic Technologists with many years of experience in the field. (Ages 12-15)

Students will learn about the chosen artist of the day. Examples of the artist’s work will be observed and discussed. Students will complete an assignment in the artist’s style. (Pop Art, Scratch Art, Pointillism, Portrait, and Storytelling) Basic supplies will be provided. Unique art will be taken home to enjoy! (Ages 8-14)

This summer is the time to explore the field of nursing and our nursing camp is a great way to get started! Learn the qualities of a nurse, basic nursing skills, first aid, CPR training, and much more! Learn these skills from Professional Registered Nurses. (Ages 12-16)

Get a head start on your engineering education! Mizzou Engineering offers a variety of experiences for third graders through high school students who are interested in exploring the field and want to experience life as a Mizzou Engineer. Build an underwater robot that you will test in a pool on the last day of camp.

Student helpers will participate in a training prior to art camp. No video game devices may be used at art camp. No cell phone use is permitted except for parent communication. Student helpers will have a fun and engaging time with campers! Volunteer hours at Art Camp count toward service hours for their middle or high school. Everybody wins!

Join us for a week of fun where kids get to create cool, personalized keychains and learn essential typing skills! In this camp, campers will explore their creativity by designing and making their very own keychains using beads, string, and lanyards. Alongside their crafting, campers will also learn the fundamentals of typing, practicing proper finger placement and speed through engaging games and activities. By the end of the camp, they'll leave with a collection of fun keychains and improved typing skills.
