This high school institute is an intensive for high school rising sophomores, juniors and seniors preparing portfolios for art school admissions and for those thinking about entering an art program. The five days will develop students’ concepts and skills to strengthen their portfolios. This institute will focus on color.

This institute will introduce students to the process of auditioning for theatre, film, television, and commercials. The Missouri State #BearsTeach initiative looks to recruit students interested in the teaching profession to address the teacher shortage in Missouri. The program takes freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from the school districts around the state of Missouri and invites them to attend a summer immersion program on the campus of Missouri State University.

During this week-long high school institute, participants will gain experience and knowledge to help them work more intentionally on the potter’s wheel. Through demonstration, presentation, and an abundance of time in the studio, you will gain the skills to throw forms in sections, forms in multiples, and more.

In this hands-on institute, students will explore darkroom photography. They will take photos with film cameras, develop the film, then learn the tools, materials, equipment, chemicals and safety protocols used to make silver gelatin prints.

Dive into an intensive, curriculum-based workshop designed to enhance your skills on piano, keyboard, and Hammond organ. You'll build expertise in improvisation, performance, chord theory, ensemble playing, and synthesizer performance. Speech & Debate Camp will focus on taking competitors with at least 1 year of experience to the next level by focusing on specific genres and skills. This summer, speech sessions will focus on Public Address and Oral Interpretation events. Debate sessions will focus on case construction. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sessions but are encouraged to specialize in one or two genres this week. An indication (not a commitment) of which genre you are most interested in will be requested upon registration.
