This course presents students with an opportunity to expand their understanding of drawing fundamentals by considering and utilizing nontraditional materials and methods. Through lectures, demonstrations and reviewing artists’ works, students come to see drawing as a way of thinking through visual and conceptual problems, allowing them to see how to develop visual languages that can address issues and areas of personal interest.

The High School Summer Music Academy is an opportunity for talented band, orchestra and piano students from Colorado and around the country to receive world-class instruction in a one-week summer session. Band and orchestra participants will be placed into a wind ensemble or string orchestra with a nationally renowned conductor. Select students will be divided up into one of many small ensembles in order to gain invaluable chamber music experience. Students will also participate in electives that will serve as preparation for collegiate music degree programs.

SVA's BFA Illustration program is pleased to present an all-new online Pre-College program for Summer 2021. This three-week course will combine elements of observational drawing, narrative storytelling and limited animation. Using wet and dry media combined with digital tools, students will learn how to animate their drawings into GIFs and develop a cohesive narrative through a series of projects. This course will help young artists develop new skills and strengthen their portfolio through a unique combination of illustration, cartooning and animation techniques.
