Learn the business of sports firsthand from professionals, experiencing exciting sectors of the ever-changing sports industry through site visits and sporting events. Investigate the business of professional and amateur sports with emphasis on its unique evolution and manifestation in New York City, the nexus of the sports industry. Starting with an overview of American sports, students will discover how and why the business of sports came to exist. After, we consider critical industry topics, including: 1) athlete management; 2) facility and event superintendence; 3) the relationship and impact of culture, society and individuals on the business of sports; 4) the future of sport. Through a combination of seminars, site visits and attendance at sporting events, students experience the various sectors that comprise this ever-expanding and ever-changing industry.
