Learn how to develop and design a product or toy concept; create a line extension, and a successful brand. Explore the design development process in the fields of Product and Toy Design from conceptualizing/problem solving, drawing, creating presentation boards (“B” sheets), breadboard models, prototyping/model making, through making a presentation. Course covers the key importance of functionality, ergonomics, preserved value, play patterns and demographic needs, as well as the history of product design and toy design. Instruction includes lectures, literature, and design critiques. By the final class, students produce a finished model and a presentation with 2-3 B Sheets that support their idea.
