ONLINE SUMMER ACADEMY: HIGH SCHOOL DESIGN EXPLORATION

Are you considering a career in architecture or design? Are you working on your portfolio for college admission? Or are you simply curious about design? The Summer Academy at The Boston Architectural College offers an opportunity to study design with a hands-on approach and with no previous design experience required. Since 1973, the Summer Academy has complemented the education of highschool students with hands-on design and material exercises. Going online in 2020, enrolled students will receive the materials through the mail to follow simultaneously the full-scale example being executed by the faculty member. Daily discussions in synchronous webinars will lead the student exercises. Case study buildings and professional firm visits, for example, through virtual reality will parallel the design/build teams of students in developing and experiencing their projects online. Students in 11th and 12th grade who complete the Summer Academy Program earn 1.5 college credits and are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship towards one of our undergraduate programs.
