Offered this summer, our Human Anatomy and Physiology course is the perfect starting point for students interested in learning more about entering the medical field. This course is all about systemic human biology, or how the heart, lungs, and musculoskeletal and nervous systems work together to help you function. Through this session, we will be examining the way that people are put together and how the systems of the body work together through direct examination, similar to what you would see at a doctor’s office, all while learning the basics of how to complete a physical exam. You will also learn through simulations using practice dummies or high level computers.
Lastly, this hands-on experience will teach you about the way that the body is assembled through dissection, where you’ll learn how the anatomy of the body’s major organs relates to their function in the body. Students will spend hours in the UConn cadaver lab working with real human bodies. This is an opportunity that most students who are interested in the medical field are not afforded until graduate school, so this is a great chance to see if working with the human body is truly a career for you.
