Leadership: Discover the Leader Within

Leadership skill development can help you in immeasurable ways. Emotional intelligence - a cornerstone of effective leadership - can help you expand your communication skills, advance your study habits or just help you become a more effective delegator. Right now you may be asking yourself: Am I a leader? What does leadership even mean? I have great ideas but how can I share them and how do I find people who interested in my plans? This class is meant to not only help you better understand yourself, but will concentrate on your leadership capacities and preferences as well as focus on how you interact with those around you. Leadership comes in as many styles and types as people do. There are introverted and extroverted leaders. There are people who lead from the spotlight and those who conquer issues from the sidelines. Together, we are going to try out approaches to find out what works for you as well as share ideas and learn from each other, play a lot of games, and most importantly- have fun! This course will feature three main avenues of learning: Group work and individual reflection Low stakes public speaking and intrapersonal communication activities Leadership simulations in class and on a ropes course At the end of this course you will be able to identify different leadership approaches and how each benefits a shared goal. You will be able to identify your strengths and weaknesses as a leader and how to best interact with others in group and how you are personally motivated. Most of all, you are going to have an amazing time learning about yourself and others.
