Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre Studio introduces you to the rigors of Emerson's nationally renowned undergraduate BFA training in musical theater. The 5-week program, eligible for four college credits, focuses on technique-based training in skill development for singing, acting, dance and song interpretation and reflects on the training in the Emerson BFA Musical Theatre Program, which emphasizes process. The priority is not on performance or production, but on the fundamentals, vocabulary and discipline of the craft. Preparation for college admission auditions will also be addressed. The faculty members, alumni of the BFA Musical Theatre Program at Emerson College, have Broadway, regional, national touring, television and film credits, and draw from these experiences to create a dynamic cross between scholarship and rigorous training. Professional guest artists including alumni who graduated from the Emerson BFA Musical Theatre Program may also be invited to teach. During the last week of the program, students who are rising seniors are offered an option to audition for the BFA Musical Theatre Program at Emerson for future admittance consideration. Musical Theatre Studio is offered as a noncredit or credit program.
