What did the Renaissance look like? During the first two weeks of the program, students will learn and practice basic observational drawing skills in order to analyze and interpret the visual culture of the period, while also engaging in academic research on particular artworks and artists. These endeavors will culminate in a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where students will draw on site as well as present their research on masterpieces such as Rembrandt’s Lucretia, Giorgio Vasari’s Six Tuscan Poets, the museum’s Tudor Room, and other select works from the collections of this world-class museum. *Every Humanities student will experience Visualizing the Renaissance throughout the program and conduct research in one of the other three course topic areas.
