The Piano Festival begins at the close of the annual Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition featuring an international pool of young pianists ages 13-18. After the Welcoming session, Festival participants (ages 12-20) enjoy the Cooper Competition Honors Concert and reception. The next day, participants observe the Cooper Competition master classes, then travel to Severance Hall, Cleveland, Ohio for the Cooper Concerto Finals which features the three Cooper finalists and the renowned Cleveland Orchestra. The week continues with private lessons, master classes, technique and piano ensemble sessions, an optional Festival competition, and final concert in Warner Concert Hall. All participants receive three 45-minute lessons with festival faculty and can audition to perform in public master classes. After a week in the festival, you’ll come away a stronger, more confident pianist!
