We will dive deep and investigate how we use, explore, and are working to conserve our dynamic ocean environments. Campers will learn how scientists are using technology to study deep ocean and nearshore habitats, examine how microscopic plastics are impacting animals and beaches, engage in ocean conservation activities, and more. Each summer, Oregon Sea Grant hosts a number of summer day camps for youth 8 to 18 years old. Each camp is four days long, running Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 3 pm. Summer day camps at HMSC give young people an opportunity to interact with researchers and learn about the marine environment through hands-on programs and field trips. Topics covered in each camp differ, but range from marine technology to marine mammals. Registration includes all instructional materials, field trips, and a camp t-shirt to decorate. Lunches are not included. Detailed information about each camp will be sent before the camps begin. Payment must accompany registration. Make checks payable to HMSC Sea Grant. Camp registration fees are non-refundable.
