The next step for conducting students, this is an invaluable class for band conductors and drum majors. Leadership qualities included. All students are placed in at least one large ensemble (band, orchestra, or choir) after their Sunday audition. The large ensembles rehearse twice a day. Students are also placed in a small ensemble, such as Jazz Band, Clarinet Choir, Low Brass Choir, String Quartet, Cello Choir, or Vocal Choir, which rehearse once a day throughout the week. The daily music curriculum is complete with a sectional rehearsal/masterclass and an elective mini course. All campers will be enrolled in one mini class that meets daily. Here students will be able to refine techniques already learned or pick up new skills by taking a class like Explore World Percussion. Class placement is based on application date. Certain classes have a limited number of seats so apply early! Throughout the week campers attend evening recitals and concerts presented by the featured artists, faculty and fellow students. The $450 fee includes tuition, room, meals, extensive music instruction and coaching. There is an additional fee if campers choose to take private lessons on their instrument ($25 per 30-minute lesson). Lesson fees are collected directly by the private instructor when they are scheduled. For Day Campers, the tuition is $250.
