Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes - Engineering: Urban Systems

When we say "urban systems," we might mean anything from the planning of entire cities, to building design, to the engineering of structural and mechanical systems. This course will introduce students to this vital and constantly-evolving field. Lectures, workshops, and increasingly challenging projects will build students' knowledge and confidence adept at the creative problem-solving skills engineers excel at, synthesizing design and science with sustainable and ethical considerations. The end goal is for the class is to develop an appreciation of how engineering permeates every aspect of the environment.
