During this one-week residential summer camp, high school students will learn to leverage the power of engineering and science to solve global challenges in energy, water, and urban infrastructure, as outlined in the report entitled 14 Grand Challenges for Engineering by the US National Academy of Engineering. This program uses a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solving while exploring the various fields of engineering such as mechanical, civil, electrical, biological systems, and more. The session will also involve field visits to various on-campus labs and facilities such as the Tractor Test Lab, the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility, and the Super Computing Lab, as well as off campus excursions to local industry to enrich students’ understanding of the practical relationships between classroom work and the real world. Communication and teamwork will be integral parts of the students’ camp experience. The camp will be led by faculty and staff from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering. Participant Limit: 20. Early Tuition: $500. Regular Tuition: $550. Late Tuition: $600.
