In this program, you'll learn about the wide variety of career possibilities in biotechnology and the health professions—from rediscovering ancient methods of healing to making brand-new medical breakthroughs. You'll find out what everyday life is like as a researcher or doctor and what it takes to get the necessary training. Each day you'll explore a different aspect of biology with guest speakers. Some days will feature informal talks, while others will focus on interactive laboratories or discussions. This course will also teach you how to read scientific literature critically and how to generate information through medical databases. Your final grade will be based on a short research paper on a biological or medical topic. You'll round out your studies with up to two additional Cornell courses of your choice, which will allow you to customize this program to your interests. Application process includes: online application, 3 personal statements, application fee, transcript, grade report, standardized test scores, letter of recommendation. Need based financial aid is available with the completion of an additional scholarship application.
