English Immersion: Academic English for Speakers of Other Languages

Designed for international students whose first language is not English, Cornell's six-week English Immersion program will help you hone your English language skills while experiencing college life at an Ivy League university. You'll enroll in two Cornell classes—one on academic writing and a second course of your choice—and earn an official Cornell transcript and six college credits. Through your classes and during one-on-one sessions with instructors, you'll improve your grammar, vocabulary, and writing style. If you're interested in applying to a U.S. college, you'll benefit from our college fair, admissions workshops, and individual counseling sessions. In addition, the grades and credits you earn at Summer College, along with your familiarity with American teaching and learning styles, can become important factors in your college admissions process. Beyond your studies, you'll enjoy cultural activities, explore outstanding campus facilities, converse with native English speakers in day-to-day situations, and build friendships with students from across the world. Application process includes: online application, 3 personal statements, application fee, transcript, grade report, standardized test scores, letter of recommendation. Need based financial aid is available with the completion of an additional scholarship application.
