In this program, you'll explore how challenges of sustainability—resource depletion, climate change, biodiversity loss, poverty, inequality, weak governance, and more—can affect the behavior of corporations. Through discussions, case studies, readings, writing assignments, and guest speakers, you'll learn about the most important themes in corporate sustainability and finance, including: The impacts of business activity on society and the planet, How corporations tackle environmental and social risks, Sustainability initiatives and self-regulation in the business sector, and Stakeholder engagement and management. You'll focus particularly on the social context in which businesses operate and the influence that environmental NGOs, social organizations, activist shareholders, values-based investors, and others have on corporate behavior. And by the end of the program, you'll be able to identify ways in which the tools of finance can be leveraged to better manage natural resources and reach particular social objectives.
