Summer Workshop: Crossing the Generational Divide

This session is designed to reach across generational divides by fostering mutual understanding, tolerance, and respect. During this course, participants will experience simulated, sensory and mobility deprivation activities to gain an understanding of the challenges faced by senior citizens on a daily basis. Afterwards, participants will travel to two senior care facilities for sharing and socialization with senior residents. Cottey’s Summer Workshop is a week-long summit on leadership, skill building and knowledge gathering for the girl bosses, the change makers, and the barrier breakers. The workshop is dedicated to providing an environment where girls are encouraged to have fun while discovering how leadership takes a role in everything you do. The workshop is being offered to ambitious high school girls who will be entering their junior or senior year the following fall after the Summer Workshop. During the week, participants will stay in a residence hall and get the opportunity to follow their interests and enhance their skills by taking courses taught by Cottey professors. There are a variety of courses to choose from! Work-shoppers will meet other bold leaders from all over the world and get a chance to experience the Cottey student life atmosphere we’re known for. In addition to interacting in leadership-embedded liberal arts and sciences courses and the opportunity to prepare by experiencing college life pre-graduation, all Summer Workshop attendees who are admitted and enroll at Cottey College will be awarded a $12,000 scholarship to Cottey – that’s an automatic $3,000 annual scholarship!
