Video Production Camp for High School (Day)

Video Production Camp will be an intensive course in fun and advanced video production over nine days. Campers will be divided into production groups and will cover pre-production, production, and post-production fundamentals as we create a series of music-focused and project videos. We will work with local music producers in creating videos ranging from documentary to purely artistic and each group will have experience in each video produced. Campers will learn advanced digital camera skills, studio production, and editing in Final Cut Studio and Motion. Skills covered will include composition and framing, exposure, lighting, sound design, interviewing, essential editing, and post-production finishing, with focus on writing, direction, advanced production equipment, and detail refinement. Guest speakers from Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies and Arts of the Moving Image will elaborate on several of the concepts taught and will give higher-level insights and historical context of the medium. Some prior experience is assumed, but this camp will cater to all students, whether novice or seasoned producer.
