National High School Institute (Cherubs) - Theatre Arts Division - Theatre Arts 5 Week Program

NHSI Theatre Institute students can choose between a focus of study in Theatre Arts Acting or Design/Tech. All students take morning and some afternoon Core classes together that explore acting, voice & movement, performance theory, and text/character analysis. In the afternoon, Theatre Arts students choose from a variety of electives, while Design/Tech students take a stage management and design process class. All students are assigned to a crew to assist with final productions. Applicants must be current high school juniors who will be rising into their senior year of high school following their summer at Northwestern, and rank academically near the top 30% of their high school class. They must meet a high standard of character, responsibility, and intelligence, and they must be able to provide evidence of experience and/or interest in the theatre arts. To apply: fill out and submit online application, including $35 application fee. After receiving confirmation email, submit resume, two essay responses, letter of recommendation, transcript, and standardized test scores. Tuition for the Theatre Arts, Design/Tech, and Musical Theatre Extension covers: all programming, room & board in University housing, three meals daily in the dining hall, health services (not insurance), field trips, theatre performance tickets, and group events. Need-based scholarships and financial aid are available.
