Join Asbury professors for five days of hands-on learning, using many of the latest techniques employed in ecology, biotechnology, and conservation biology today. Sample fish populations in local habitats using electrofishing and other methods. Collect, observe, and learn about many species of amphibians and reptiles. Use PCR to identify transgenes in organisms. Collect and identify many aquatic invertebrates; take home your own collection. Examine genetically modified fish using molecular techniques to observe the foreign gene. Identify and collect many reptiles and amphibians while studying basic herpetology. Use environmental DNA detection and identification of captured organisms based on differences in their genomic DNA sequences. The camp is $390 per person, and includes food, lodging, and all expenses.
