This camp is open to students ages 12-21. No audition is required; all levels are welcome. It is recommended that participants have at least two years of prior study on snare drum; prior marching percussion experience is helpful. This drum-corps-style camp weekend will feature one-on-one and group instruction for snares and quads with Jeff Queen and Bill Bachman. If possible, campers may bring their own snare or quads. All students should bring their own ear protection. You will leave camp with: A complete selection of custom tailored exercises to improve general and specific areas of your playing; Strategies on exactly HOW to practice in order to improve at the fastest rate possible; Development of a clear plan that will help you in achieving your next level of playing. Housing for the Snare and Tenor Camp is provided in Butler University's ResCo dorm, which is air-conditioned. Dorm check-in is 4:30 p.m. on Friday; check-out is noon on Sunday. It is generally recommended that younger students attend as commuters if this is their first camp experience. Commuters participate in all sessions, but are picked up at 9 p.m. each evening. Commuter tuition includes dinner on Friday and both lunch and dinner on Saturday. Residential tuition includes dinner on Friday, three meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Camper information packets containing additional scheduling information, what to bring and where to report will be emailed to all participants approximately two weeks prior to camp. Registration form and $50 non-refundable deposit due by May 1; remaining tuition is due in full by June 1 for all campers, both residential and commuter. Payment can be made online by selecting "Make a Payment" on the BCAS homepage. All refund requests must be submitted via email to BCAS@butler.edu. No refunds will be issued after June 1. Late applications may be accepted on the basis of available space. Need-based scholarships are available for ages 18 and under; you may apply for scholarship on the camp registration form OR complete the separate Scholarship Application Form.
