Dordt Discovery Days - Acrylic Landscape Painting (AM class)

Landscape painting, is the depiction natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests with its elements arranged into a coherent composition. In this class, we will learn some of the basic techniques that artists use when painting landscapes. We will learn some classic composition formulas and practice a variety of ways to create the illusion of space and distance. Each student will create two original acrylic landscape paintings on canvases. We will also spend some time discussing the technique, design, style, and emotional impact of our own landscape paintings. Dordt Discovery Days is a five-day camp for students who have completed 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. Choose one morning and one afternoon class. Classes meet once each day, Monday through Friday. Resident cost: Includes Monday through Thursday nights in campus residence halls under the supervision of Dordt's student services staff. Class sessions, all meals, snacks, t-shirt, and evening group recreational activities are included. Fee: $360 A very limited number of grants will be awarded to students who show financial need. Grants are awarded first come, first served with a standard grant covering half of registration costs. Students can submit applications no earlier than April 1, with a deadline of April 22.
