Advance Ballet Intensive

Participants will enrich their ballet training under the skillful eye of some of the finest artists in the profession. BYU’s Summer Ballet Intensives offer experience in artistic training, including ballet technique, pointe and variations, character, jazz, and modern dance. Activities and discussions in conditioning, nutrition, and injury prevention will complement the two weeks of dance instruction. Each dancer will receive individual feedback and personal evaluations to improve artistic and technical development. Two weeks of instruction and rehearsal culminate in a final performance that showcases each dancer’s talents and what has been learned. There are two $300 scholarships from the BYU Department of Dance, available for Juniors or Seniors this year. These scholarships will go towards tuition for attending the BYU Advanced Ballet Intensive. These scholarships will be decided by the director and judges at the time of auditions. You will be notified via email if you are selected to be the recipient of a scholarship. If you are unable to attend the in-person audition on 2/3/2018, you may send a seven–minute recording of selected classwork. Barre combinations should be shown, one side only, alternating sides for each combination. For centre work you must include a combination for each of the following: adagio, pirouettes, petit and grand allegro. Pointe work should show the dancer's level. If the dancer wishes to be considered for the advanced level, double pirouettes as well as continuous one legged releves, both en pointe, must be shown. Online Requirements: You must pre-register for this audition ($25) no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 26th, 2018. You will be required to upload links for your audition video and two photos (1st arabesque AND a headshot) in the application below.
