This course challenges students to create a short digital film that will incorporate motion graphics and visual effects techniques. By leading students through a production pipeline that begins with initial creative assignments, together we will discover the range of skills needed to deliver a final edited film that has been created using many tools, such as HD cameras, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere, as well as traditional pencil, paper and storytelling principles. This course is demanding. Students will be given a taste of a real production environment. They will work together to practice the fundamentals of preproduction, production and postproduction. Topics will include storytelling, vfx planning, storyboarding, directing performances, pro-camera operation, solving visual effects problems, editing, compositing in After Effects and using sound to polish the final film
