Summer College: Chemsational - How to solve puzzles with chemistry in everyday life (Residential)

Using a theme-based and interdisciplinary approach, we will explore selected fundamental concepts of chemistry along with its societal applications. You will consider topics such as art, material science, medicine, food, environmental sustainability, and others using active problem-solving and hands-on laboratory activities. You will use the tools and methods that modern scientists use to study various subjects in chemistry. With close faculty mentorship, you will use the state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation at the Chemistry Department of Ithaca College and participate in several field trips. In-class activities, home assignments, and a final project will help you make connections between chemistry and your everyday lives and specific areas of interest, while developing skills for making informed educated decisions based on the availability of reliable data.
