An 8-week summer project serving teens ages 13-20 in St. Louis City & County to gain employment relationship skills through volunteer work. Neighborhood Experiences is a community based employment training project providing individuals tools needed for career awareness, exploration and discovery of volunteer/work sites in their neighborhoods. Individuals develop skills by volunteering/working at organizations throughout St. Louis. Neighborhood Experiences teaches employment and relationship skills necessary to succeed in the work setting. Each individual will increase hard and soft employment skills, identify strengths, and learn from challenges. The acquisition of skills such as responsibility, job commitment, work culture, positive communication, community awareness/access and experience using public transportation, prepares individuals to obtain and maintain meaningful employment in the future.
